Shaughn

He's had feeding issues since he was born and had to have emergency surgery to put his bowels back where they belong. He's never been a big eater which may have something to do with his sensory issues but he has periods where he just stops eating. His BMI is under 1% and he's had 2 exploratory surgeries already this year.. The drs are stumped and because he is so young they don't know how to help him. If we can't get enough nutrients into him on our own, they want to put him on a feeding tube.

I share his pics each night and random stories about him not to garner sympathy but to help spread awareness.  I, personally, knew nothing about about autism or seizures or chiari until they affected my life.  He is a very special young man and has an incredible relationshionship with his ESA Tabby.

My son is the youngest of my 3 children (Sasha 18, Sunny 14, and Shaughn3).  A year ago he was diagnosed with Autism, PDD-NOS to be exact and until recently was classified as non-verbal.  Shaughn has sensory issues, seizures, a cyst on his pineal gland and was recently diagnosed wih Chiari Malformation.  He works everyday with a behavioral therapy team and attends a reverse mainstream pre-school three days a week
